Reader.
In today´s competitive business world, speed of
communication, manufacture, delivery and performance
can often be the major difference between the success
and failure.
For
many of us a normal working day can often include
the challenge of trying to achieve the perfect result
in the fastest possible time.
This
fast response culture has now also started to impact
on our life outside of the office with the relentless
development of mobile technology such as Blackberry´s,
Palm Pilots and easier and quicker Internet access.

Whilst we are fully committed to provide all our
customers with the highest levels of service in
the shortest possible time, we thought that for
this issue of e-Matters we would take a relaxing
step back and dedicate this edition to some of the
advantages of taking things at a slightly slower
pace.
Even in the fastest manufacturing production lines
and extremely high tech machines there are many
occasions where a slower approach is required and
for those (pneumatic) occasions we have some of

We
thought it would be necessary to further explain
the difference in the applications that require
low speed/low friction.
In some applications it is needed to perform
stable movements at speed as low as 0.5mm/s,
without sticking and slipping. These specifications
can be achieved with micro-speed cylinders.
In the case of SMC, you can find this kind
of cylinders in the following series: CQ2X,
CQSX, CJ2X, CUX, or the rotary versions, CRQ2X
and MSQX.
In some other applications it is required
to perform a very accurate force control as
the ones shown below.
In this case, the right choice are the low
friction cylinders or their updated version,
the smooth cylinders, SMC versions CQ2Y, CQSY,
CM2Y, CG1Y or CA2Y.
Finally for the applications requiring the
lightest, smoothest and shockless operating,
combined in some cases with high frecuency,
up to 50 cycles per second, the metal seal
cylinders (e.g. MQM, MQQ or MQP) are the perfect
option.
